- What is HALR?
HALR is an easy-to-use marketing tool to help you achieve your online marketing goals.
- How it works:
You run a competitor marketing audit, a website audit and then create a marketing plan. Then use the built-in marketing tools to put your marketing plan into action.
- Marketing tools included are:

Now that we have explained a bit about what HALR is and what it does, let us look at all the features in more detail and how to get started.
Let’s take you through the sign-up and set up process.
To start using HALR you need to create an account:
We have a simple one-step sign-up and login process. Simply fill in your first name, a valid email address and a password and you are logged into the software, ready to explore HALR and all its features.
Note that the password needs to have at least one capital letter, a minimum of six characters (max 30) and one special character.
Next, you’ll receive a confirmation email where you will need to click the link inside the confirmation email, just so we can make sure that you have used a real email and are not some spammy bot.
Don’t forget to confirm your email address!
Once you have signed up and logged in you’ll be ready to create your first project.
CREATING YOUR FIRST PROJECT
Now that you are logged in to HALR’s marketing platform, you will need to create your first project.
What is a project?
A project is the business website that you are promoting. If your business has multiple domains (websites) you will need to create a new project for each one.
During your 30-day free trial, you can use one project to explore and try out the platform.
If you’d like to try out HALR with more than one website you will need to upgrade to the paid plan to enable multiple projects.
Creating your first website project is a breeze. Click the + Add New Project button (located top-middle of your login screen). Enter your business’s domain (URL), give your website project a name and hit save. Done.
If you only have one project, then this will be your default project. If you have more than one project, you will need to switch between them using the Select Your Project button.

CONNECT TO GOOGLE ANALYTICS
Google Analytics is one of the most powerful, free tools out there for monitoring and analysing traffic on your website. Google Analytics is an essential tool for any business owner that will present you with insightful data about the traffic on your website, measure the effectiveness of your marketing efforts, and help you strategize new ways to grow.
Connecting your Google Analytics profile will help us provide you with important stats about your business website when you perform your Marketing Audit. To get started click “Connect Google Analytics” at the top right-hand side of the HALR Dashboard.
Don’t have a Google Analytics account yet?
No worries, to get started collecting data from your website or mobile app you can easily create Google Analytics account. Visit www.google.com/analytics, click “Sign in”, select the Analytics button (top right), and follow the on-screen instructions.

With HALR there is no limit to the amount of website projects you can create. Simply click the + Add New Project button and give your new project a name. At this stage, you will be asked to purchase a Standard Plan which allows you to create one new project.
When you have multiple website projects you can only work on the project that you have selected. If you need to work on one of your other projects, you will need to switch over to it. Switching between projects is simple – use the Select Your Project button at the top-middle of your HALR interface.
Now that you have set up HALR you’re ready to start marketing your business.
We want you to start out on a set path. We don’t want you to just blindly go forth and play with all the features and modules using an ‘ad-hoc’ approach, trying to ‘guess’ what might or might not work.
You need a plan.
First you need to find out how your website performs online, most importantly how you fair against your top 5 competitors. Performing a competitive marketing audit has numerous benefits and will highlight any shortcomings of your current marketing efforts.
Just answer a few questions about your business and competitors then we’ll use that information to perform a unique Marketing Audit. The software will search the competitive landscape of your specific business then suggest marketing ideas and improvements.
Inside your HALR dashboard, on the left side click on the MARKETING button. You are now presented with 2 options to market your business.
For this example, please select Competitive Marketing Audit.
-> Then – Enter your top five competitors website URLs
-> Then enter your competitor’s social pages.
Simply select the correct social page for each competitor. If we have not found the correct social pages, enter the correct social page manually in the drop-down option.
After this, we’ll look into your competitor’s online reputation and local influence by comparing their reviews online.
Like before, simply select the correct competitor reviews and you’re all done.
That’s all we need! We are ready to let you know how your current marketing efforts stack up against the competition.
The audit may take up to 15 minutes to complete. We will notify you via email once the audit is ready.
Now you’ve got a complete report about how you compare to the competition, what you need to do to improve your position and how to beat them to grow your business.
The report will include issues that we find, highlight the most important ones – and we will make recommendations on how you address them. We’ll also create a To-Do List so you can easily manage all the task that we recommend. There is even an option to assign the tasks to the To-Do List to a team member or a freelancer.
Here are the marketing metrics and channels that will be checked and graded for your Marketing Audit.
One of the metrics assessed is On-Page SEO and how you compare to your competitors
- SEO-Friendly Permalink URLs
- Keyword in Title
- Image ‘alt’ tags (with keyword)
- Outbound Links
- Drop Keyword in First 100 Words
- Wrap Your Title in an H1 Tag
- Page Load Speed
- Social Sharing Buttons
- Long Content
The assessment will highlight any inconsistencies—making recommendations on how to fix them or provide suggestions on how to take advantage of your competitors missed opportunities and snag new customers.
Next, we’ll check your Blog Competition as this is an important marketing channel.
- Blog found
- How many words per blog post
- How often / frequent
- Blog posts contain media
- Blog has social sharing enabled
- How many inbound links
We’ll compare your blog (assuming that you have one!) to your top five competitors. The result will highlight any inconsistencies and make recommendations on how to fix them or take advantage of opportunities your competitors may have missed.
From here we analyse your Social Media activities and engagement efforts
Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn Analysis
- Activity for Social Channel
- Fans / Likes/ Tweets / Follows
- People Talking About It
- Brand/Product Posts
With this information, we’ll provide you with an analytical overview that includes some key metrics about the competition on your social channels. We’ll analyse your competitive position, relative performance, and market share, as well as how users interact with your posts, and how to optimise for the best results.
Let’s not forget to find out how many Bookmarks your business has against the Competition
The positive effects of social bookmarking from blogs and other web sites is excellent. Social bookmarking can introduce your website to people with relevant tastes—driving up traffic and provide valuable back-links.
As previously we will compare your business website to your top five competitors. If your site has no bookmarks yet we’ll create a To-Do List so that you can address this in your marketing schedules to get people looking at your site.
Last but not least we find and check & compare your Reviews
If you’ve ever bought anything online or looked up a restaurant for a night out then you know that having positive reviews online about your business is essential. For now we are only checking:
We are planning on adding many more review sites in due course.
If your business has no reviews yet not a problem, we’ll create a To-Do List so that you can address this in your marketing schedules.

Every business needs a marketing plan. Our marketing plan builder will ask you a series of questions about your business – fair warning though, it does get quite detailed. But don’t worry, we created our marketing plan builder to not only ask all the right questions but also provide you with multiple answers. Think of it like a detailed multiple-choice survey.
Once completed, the system automatically creates an actionable marketing plan for you! Plus, the system creates a “to-do list” with tasks that you, a team member, or freelancer can tick off as they are completed.
You can also download your Marketing Plan as a PDF and give that to your team or freelancer to follow up and implement.
Each section has detailed questions and we’ve included optional multi-choice answers whenever possible to guide you through the writing of your marketing plan.
We suggest that your marketing plan and strategy cover one year. For small companies, this is often the best way to think about marketing. Things change, people leave, markets evolve, and customers come and go.
You don’t have to complete the entire process in one session. You can save it, think things over, come back to it later and complete it at your own pace. Once you’ve completed your marketing plan you can download it as a PDF, and if required, hand it to your team or Freelancer to implement it for you.
THE MARKET ANALYSIS
Understanding how your market works and what customers want is vital. Market analysis and research can help you identify where to focus your efforts and how to maintain a competitive edge. By completing this section, you will find out the information you need to know about your potential customers.
THE MARKETING MIX
The marketing mix is the set of controllable, tactical marketing tools that a business uses to produce the desired response from its target market. It consists of everything that a business can do to influence demand for its product. By profiling potential customers, determining goals and laying out tactics, you can create a marketing mix that will help you succeed in building a strong customer base.
YOUR BUSINESS WEBSITE ANALYSIS
Having a good performing website for your business is like having a salesperson who never sleeps or eats and doesn’t need a pay check. However, is it really working as hard for you as it could?
We look behind the design with our “10” Point Website Health Check, which tells you how hard your site is really working and what areas can be improved.
We don’t need any access details, just your web address. Our software will do the rest!
YOUR MARKETING STRATEGY
A Marketing strategy includes all the basic, short and long-term activities in the field of marketing. This should include a strategic analysis of the initial situation of your company and the creation, evaluation, and selection of market-oriented strategies. By creating a comprehensive marketing strategy, you will set your business on the path to achieving your goals.
YOUR SALES STRATEGY
The only way to run a viable business is to generate income; without it, the business will cease to exist!
Therefore, having a clear sales strategy is the key to the success of any business. Once you’ve completed this section we will add all your actionable items to your ‘To-Do List’.
THE RESULT / YOUR PLAN:
Once you’ve completed all six sections we’ll compile the information for you into an easy to digest report. Part of that report will be actionable and can be automatically added to your To-Do List.
